As a student enrolled in College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) at the University of Connecticut pursuing a dual-degree in Biology and Human Development and Family Studies, I actively work to encourage youth interest in science and elevate their engagement in the community. Particularly, I continue to send resources and provide guidance to underprivileged, science-driven students of the New England and New York City area. I believe strongly in allowing high school students to become immersed in research and scientific literature as soon as possible, not only to allow for an easier transition into college or post-high school work, but to increase the number of students that are scientifically literate. Furthermore, I actively work to increase my own research experience; at the moment, I have been fortunate enough to be involved in several studies, mostly concentrating in the Avian Digestive Microbiome. Ultimately, my goal is to become a pediatric gastroenterological surgeon with research, specializing in the human microbiome of the digestive system and enhanced scientific understanding of Irritable Bowel Disease causes.
